a trip to Round Top...

April has been very inspiring me as I just got back from a trip to Round Top, Texas, home of the famous bi-annual Antique Show. I met with Robin Brown, designer of Magnolia Pearl and her husband, John Gray.
The Magnolia Pearl booth was absolutely magnificent! It had a very large paper mache’ tree in the center with flax fibers that created branches and the illusion of foliage. The floor was covered in hay strands.

It was beautiful and fun to watch dozens of ladies come and try on the complete Magnolia Pearl line. Every body type looks beautiful in it! It was also a social event—women coming together to wear clothing reminiscent of the past.

It was fun to see the newest Magnolia Pearl creations and try them on for myself to see how they fit! My favorite pieces included the new white organdy dress with puffed sleeves. It is a great “overlayer” and looks absolutely beautiful on. I love the way the skirt floats upward in the front.

I can’t wait to wear this piece. I also loved the organdy skirt and can see the potential of this piece over the silk skirt and bloomers. Also new to the line were the linen and lace long bloomers with tiny buttons in front. I can see them peaking out from under the skirt, dresses and tunics. I love it! I would have never believed all of the new pieces and the beautiful way they were displayed. It was breathtaking!

It was an absolute blast to take in 14 miles of farmland turned into antique booths! I would have never imagined in my wildest dreams that the Round Top show would be so expansive and so much fun. In the three days I was there, I probably took in only about 5-10% of the show. It was overwhelming. I got some pictures of some of my favorite booths. I can’t wait to go to the show in the fall! It was definitely worth it!

much love..
